Liv lathers himself up over Donyell

Now, see, this is a good little tidbit.

Marshall learned his outside touch as a little man. It then elevated his game far more than the growth spurt of 8 inches in two years that turned him into a big one.

Bill Livingston often will give you that kind of insight into a guy’s game. But he’ll just as likely give you a whopper like this.

The Marshall Plan can help rebuild a long-suffering franchise.

Rebuild the franchise? I think someone else’s plan is doing that. His name is Lebron James. Whatever Donyell Marshall does along the way might help rebuild the team, but certainly not the franchise.

Coach Brown on Gooden – D up

Today’s PD

“I see length. I see athleticism. I see energy, and I see hustle,” Brown said. “I see unlimited potential to be a great defensive player and to be a great rebounder offensively or defensively. He should give guys fits in that painted area. The sky’s the limit for Drew.”

They wanna focus him on defense. Anyone think he can play defense? I’m not convinced he can make the transition, but if he does, yet another reason to be optimistic about what could be an awesome team.

Mike Brown interview – it’s about defense

Crain’s does a very good interview with the Cavs new coach, Mike Brown. He spends a lot of time talking about defense.

I don’t think it’s matter of “We do this and somebody else does that.” We have a system. Everybody has a responsibility, defending the basket or defending the ball. If the ball moves, all five guys move, not just one guy. Everybody’s on a string. We’re going to get repetition behind it all, so that it’s second nature to guys. The ball moves here, and all five guys move. It’s second nature. Guys are reacting to it instead of thinking about it and then doing it because you can’t be a step late in this league.

Odd that this appears in Crain’s Cleveland Business…why can’t the PD do an interview like this?

Lebron not going anywhere

Best news from Cavs media day.

“I’ve never given any indication that I’m leaving Cleveland,” James said. “I’ve been in Akron my whole life and my family loves to come see me play in all 41 home games. I’m here wearing a Cavaliers jersey and I’m happy.”…”I can’t predict the future and I don’t know what might happen between now and when I sign my next contract,” James said. “Something might come up and some things might not. My focus right now is being a Cavalier and that’s all I’m worried about.”

It all depends on how close the Cavs get to a championship between now and the 2007-2008 season, his last under contract. Bottom line.
