Cavs media day today…except for internet media

So every single local TV newscast had a segment on Cavs media day, complete with Lebron and Drew Gooden comiserating with the Indians….it was 6 months ago that the Cavs missed the playoffs on the last day of the season, too. Good stuff.

Only one problem…as of 8.45 pm, I can’t find a single thing about Cavs Media Day on the internet. Not one of the local news stations has any coverage of it online. Nothing on WTAM’s site, nothing at WKNR, nothing at ESPN, not even one iota at the Cavs’ official site. I’m sure I’ll be able to blog on a PD article tomorrow, but wow…nothing at all online the day of the event? Wow. I thought professional sports teams were more media savvy than that.

Snow wants to contend

Big time.

“We have a chance to do something special,” said Snow, who joined the town meeting along with teammates Ira Newble and Drew Gooden. “We have to set our goals bigger than just to make the playoffs. I don’t see how players can go out and compete without the goal being to win the championship. That’s what we’re striving for. We’re going to compete for a championship just like the other 29 teams.”

It’s pretty cool that the Cavs held this town hall meeting at the Q, but why wasn’t Lebron there?

Cavs broadcast team improves

Mark Price out, Scott Williams in.

Former Cavalier Scott Williams will join play-by-play broadcaster Michael Reghi for the FSN games. Reghi and Austin Carr return to broadcast the games on Channel 43.

Count me as one of those happy to see Mark Price go. Loved him in a Cavs uniform, hated him with a microphone in front of his mouth. He never actually analyzed anything, was as whitebread as you could possibly get in a game where you need to have a strong opinion, and seemed completely lost at times.

Cavs sign gaggle of big men

Jahidi, Obinna, and Zendon. Sounds like a hip hop law firm. Or the Cavs back-up big man roster. From the Beacon Journal (free registration required)…

The Cavs had been speaking with White, who averaged 2.5 points and 2.0 rebounds for the Charlotte Bobcats last season, for weeks. Ultimately, though, they decided not to give him a guaranteed contract. Ekezie, like White, is a veteran who has made a career being the extra big man on various NBA rosters. Last season he played 42 games for the Atlanta Hawks, averaging a career-high 5.5 points and 4.3 rebounds. Hamilton, who has played for five teams in his career, averaged 3.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 17 games with the Milwaukee Bucks last season.

I have no idea who any of these guys are, but I like that Danny Ferry is jacking up the competition in pre-season. Can only help, especially if Verajao is out for a while.
