The misery endures

First the White Sox. God, I hate them.

And now the Steelers. God, I hate them even more.

It’s funny that I just referenced the Big G twice, even though it’s clear he doesn’t like me. I am, after all, a Cleveland sports fan.

I am so tired of watching other teams, other fans, other cities celebrate championships. When am I going to hang on to every last word of a postgame awards presentation? When am I going to start dialing the first time I see that SI Champions commercial? When are we going to see a ticker tape parade in downtown Cleveland, fer cryin out loud?

Watching two of our bitterest rivals hoist tropies and douse themselves in champagne over the last four months has truly been awful. It’s time for someone to get it right and bring home a title. So come on LeBron. Shapiro. Savage. Someone accomplish something.

Within the next three or four years, I want to be hanging out of the window screaming “We won!” while my wife drives my drunk ass home from a sportsbar.

Let’s be honest Browns Fan

I’ve been reading and watching the news this week for the Super Bowl. I can’t help but hope the Steelers get pounded. I walk around Cleveland and see Steelers sweatshirts, I hear Big Ben (Steelers QB) proclaiming Findlay, Ohio is a converted Pittsburgh town, I hear some “good hearted” Cleveland football fans say “You have to cheer for Pittsburgh, they helped us get back into the league” and I still say this. A TRUE Cleveland Browns fan, can never, has never and will never cheer for the hated Steelers. This is the team that has continually beaten us, fought with us, insulted us and most of all, it’s our rivalry.
I heard a disturbing comment by the Plain Dealer the last time Pittsburgh beat us. The writer proclaimed, it’s only a rivalry when both teams can win. I need to remind him OSU fans had to be patient.
The Steelers Joey Porter and his big mouth give me more reason to hate the Steelers and hope they lose. I do appreciate the Jerome Bettis sentiment, but losing in his home town would be just as satisfying. So, if you are a real Cleveland Browns fan then I suggest you take all that energy you posses for the Super Bowl and cheer for the Seattle Seahawks.
I can already hear the Pittsburgh fans next year at Cleveland Stadium screaming, “We made the Super Bowl”. I would love to sit back and sip my beer, look over, and say “Yes, but YOU LOST!!!!!”

Kiper projections

Mel Kiper has some interesting projections on his updated draft board (from ESPN Insider). He projects Ashton Youboty to go to the Dolphins with the 16th pick, two picks higher than Santonio Holmes. I guess that means his decision to leave early wasn’t such a bad choice. Also, and this one makes me sick to think about it, he has Bobby Carpenter going late in the first round the the Steelers. That would be great for Carpenter, but it would suck for Browns fans. He still has the Browns selecting Iowa linebacker Chad Greenway with the #12 pick.

Browns number one in wrong poll

The Cleveland Browns finally hit number one in a poll. The misery we have witnessed over the past years is being recognized by the NFL society. The missed opportunities, the bad drafts, moving the team are all examples of why we are number one. It’s almost perfect timing for this poll as we read about upper management confusion and Art Modell looking for our sympathy. I’m not convinced the mild mannered Romeo is going to bring us to the promise land.

The “Art” of covering your own a$$

Art Model continues to fill the Cleveland airways with untruth and deception. The fact that he’s doing this just to make the Football Hall of Fame is selfish in itself. As a Cleveland native and avid Browns fan, I feel we need to use the same energy to keep him out of the Hall as he did to fill his pockets when he moved our team to “that other city”. I wish Art would do us a favor and just take his millions of dollars and SHUT UP.
When Cleveland finally wins a Super Bowl, I want to share it with the true Alumni and he is surely not one of them!!!!!
