Cavs down by 16 – win anyway.

Wow. What a win. 123-120 over the 76ers on the road. The only defense that was played all night was when the Cavs started playing defense about the end of the 3rd quarter, down by 16.

And what more can anyone say about Lebron James. A triple double. 36 points. He took over the game in the 4th quarter, simply imposed his will. And Larry Hughes? Only 37 points. When was the last time two Cavs scored 73 points between them? I don’t think that’s ever happened.

A huge step for the Cavs. To be challenged like this, on the road, by a first place team, shooting as hot as the Sixers were shooting, and then to spot them 16 points, and end up winning….wow.

Troy Smith wins a classic for the Buckeyes

What a great game. Buckeyes overcome some terrible special teams play, and an officiating crew that almost seemed hell bent on giving the game to the Wolverines, to win on the last drive, 25-21.

And Troy Smith…27-37, 300 yards, one TD…boy did he answer his critics, including me. That was a studly performance, and the final TD drive, which simply would not have happened if it weren’t for Smith’s ability to run, was one for the ages. Smith had an incredible 14 yard run on 3rd & 10, the last 7 yards completely his own creation…and the deep pass to Gonzalez, in which he manages to escape a pass rush that would have sacked any other human being…what a play. What a game.

Go Bucks.

The Turnaround Bowl

That’s what the Miami Herald is calling this Sunday’s Browns-Dolphins game (free registration required). Interesting tidbit here.

Regardless of their spirit, the Dolphins might be further removed from a turnaround than the Browns. Although they seem to have more talent now, they are also older. The Browns will start only four players who are 30 years old or older Sunday. The Dolphins could start as many as nine if quarterback Gus Frerotte starts. And Miami’s stars are older.

Hmm…does that mean the Browns are in a better position, or a worse position, than the Dolphins?
