Mo Williams provides the spark in game 1

I was at the game last night, and the first half was one of the worst performances this season by the Cavs. They were a little unlucky as well, as layup after layup would roll off the rim, but they had very little energy and Rondo was eating up Mo Williams and the rest of the Cavs defense.

Fortunately, things changed dramatically in the third quarter. First, Mike Brown moved Anthony Parker over to cover Rondo, and that turned out to be a great move. More importantly, however, Mo Williams got the team going and his own offense going with a beautiful dunk over Paul Pierce. I had a close view, and immediately I saw the look Williams gave Pierce. Mo went on a run that ignited the Cavs for the rest of the game and the Celtics didn’t know what hit them.

The Cavs need Mo to play aggressively, and hopefully this will fuel his confidence. When Mo plays well it’s almost impossible to beat the Cavs with LeBron and all their other weapons.

Cavs can win if they play better

We’ve been hearing about match-up problems posed by the Magic, but the Cavs can win this thing if they just play better. Mo Williams and Delonte West need to pick up their games. In game 3 it looked like they drank too much caffeine before the game.

LeBron James also needs to play better. That might sound crazy given his point totals so far in the series, but James needs to make better decisions. Too many times he threw up long shots without giving the offense a chance. Craig Sager just reported that LeBron admitted this in an interview before the game.

The Cavs have the talent – they just need to execute.

Williams drops 44 on the Suns

Mo Williams is still on fire.

On Wednesday night, Mo Williams went off like somebody just rear-ended his Bentley. He dropped 44 sublime points on the Suns and helped the Cavs to a big win to end their first two game losing streak of the season. Mo also had 7 assists, which gave him an all around impressive evening. He heads to the All-Star game now after showing just how crazy the rest of the coaches in the NBA and the Commissioner were for taking so long to select him.

The Suns didn’t have Steve Nash, but it’s nice to see the Cavs break their first losing streak of the season.

Mo Williams named to the NBA All-Star team and skills challenge

They finally got it rght. Mo Williams is the main reason the Cavs have improved so dramatically this season. LeBron finally has a real point guard, and Williams can also create his own shot. The team is so much more fun to watch as well. It’s much more rare now to see LeBron sitting at the top of the key with the ball, only to settle for a long jumper.

Now Williams will also appear in the skills challenge, replacing Orlando’s Jameer Nelson.
