Kevin Millwood gave up one hit over eight innings to lead the Tribe to a 3-0 shutout of the Angels. The offense still needs work, but the Indians have a chance to turn their season around if the pitching holds up.

The Tribe offense is starting to show a little bit of life and they’ve won three of the last five games, but the bats are still very inconsistent. Meanwhile, the White Sox have extended their lead to 10.5 games. The White Sox offense has not been much better, but their pitching staff has been on fire.
It’s still way too early to panic, since the White Sox likely won’t keep this pace up all season, but we’re getting closer to Shapiro’s mid-May timetable for assessing the progress of the team. Boone and Elarton top the list of players who are on the hot seat. Shapiro has plenty of options with young players in the minors, so we might see changes soon.
Bid early and bid often!
A piece of Kellen Winslow’s crashed motorcycle is being auctioned on EBay. The owner apparently works where the accident happened and saw Winslow and his buddies riding around in the lot before he crashed.
Expect Winslow himself to put the entire bike up on EBay soon to help him repay all the money he’s going to owe the Browns.
It’s really amazing to me how well the bullpen and starting pitching have been so far this season. If the hitting was just average, this team would be right there with the White Sox. Even last night, in a win, they left 13 men on base. I have never witnessed an entire team hitting slump (except Belliard) for this long…but then again, being a Cleveland sports fan, nothing surprises me much anymore…anybody want to ride motorcycles in a parking lot with me tonight?
From ClevelandBrowns.com:
“Cleveland Browns TE Kellen Winslow was injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday in the Cleveland area.
Winslow has sustained some internal injuries, which are stable. There is also swelling in his right shoulder and knee. The extent of these injuries will not be known until further medical evaluation is completed after the swelling is reduced.
Winslow will remain at the Cleveland Clinic overnight. No timetable for his release has been determined.”
Swelling in the knee? That could be bad, bad news.
