Tribe facing some adversity

The Texas Rangers are spoiling the party the Indians have been having at Progressive Field, winning the first three games of a four game series in impressive fashion. Let’s see if the Indians can salvage a game from this series today with Mitch Talbot on the mound.

The Indians clearly miss Travis Hafner, but the pitching has also taken its lumps over the past 10 days. The Tribe still has the best record in the American League, but the Detroit Tigers are now just 3.5 games back. We now have the beginnings of a real race for the Central Division title.

The Prince has a bad night

LeBron James had a rough night last night as he pulled his typical choke job late in the game as Miami squandered a 15-point lead against the Dallas Mavericks.

-Dwyane Wade was Batman again, as he was killing Dallas with his offense all night. Yet late in the game, the Heat put the ball in LeBron’s hands, and Robin blew it. What happened? – the same BS we saw in Cleveland for years. LeBron holds the ball, waits for the clock to wind down, and then throws up a desperate three. His bricks at the end gave Dallas the critical stops they needed.

-LeBron’s goofy celebration after Dwyane Wade’s big three helped spark the Mavs. LeBron is really a goofy child. He doesn’t have Jordan’s killer instinct, and he acts like an ass on the court. He always does just enough to motivate the other team.

-LeBron wilted after his exchange with Boobie Gibson. Here’s LeBron’s dumb comment:

“I wanted to team up with some guys that would never die down in the moment,” James said. “The opportunity presented itself with this great organization and we made it happen.”

He’s implying that his Cavs teammates died in the moment, after he quit in Game 5 vs Boston, and also lost plenty of games with his idiotic “decisions” late in games? Boobie couldn’t resist and responded:

I think what it all boils down to if you’re great, you go play great, be great and everybody will realize you’re great. And you wouldn’t have to let it be known that everybody else was less great.

“Great players shouldn’t have to do that.

“So I feel like it’s kind of an admission. He might have needed some help. He might have needed to go somewhere and find someone who is a little greater so maybe he wouldn’t die down in those moments.”

Nice! LeBron just can’t be the #1 guy on a team. He doesn’t have the stones to do it. With Miami, he often gets bailed out for his stupidity by a great player like Wade, but not last night!

Robin might get his ring by helping Batman

In one sense you have to give LeBron James credit. He can’t win a championship as the leader of a team, because he’s not a killer like Micheal Jordan or Kobe Bryant. So not only did he go down to Miami to be a supporting player on Dwyane Wade’s team, he’s now embracing the role of being the clear #2 on this team.

For that reason, Miami looks pretty tough right now, and the nightmare scenario for Cleveland fans might play out this year with LeBron getting his ring. The Celtics look old, Chicago doesn’t look dominant and Rose has a bad ankle, and who knows what’s going on out west. Miami might actually have a pretty easy road to a championship.

We’ll see. Hopefully Boston will get its act together tonight on game 2.

That said, LeBron is a very tough player when he can play in a supporting role to a superstar like Wade, so the Heat look very tough at the moment.

Blake Griffin hypes new Browns tight end Cameron Jordan

I’m a little surprised that the Browns picked a tight end, but check out this video of Cameron Jordan featuring Blake Griffin. Jordan looks like an amazing athlete with his jumping ability, and you can see him leaping in the end zone to snag touchdown passes. While he’s listed as a tight end, he could be used as a conventional receiver as well.

He’s another raw receiving talent with leaping ability, which also describes second round pick Greg Little. Both guys can really jump, so they could be huge weapons in the red zone. Now the coaches will need to get to work on these guys.

Greg Little highlights

Here’s a great video showing some highlights of Greg Little tearing it up at North Carolina.

The NFL lockout, however, has to be a concern for the Browns. First, they’re implementing new systems on both offense and defense. They also have a young quarterback in Colt McCoy who needs practice time.

But this pick highlights the challenges. Little was out for an entire year, and he’s a converted running back. He and the other rookies need a ton of practice time. So the Browns will have their hands full if the lockout drags on.
