Damon Jones injury

This will be a good test of how deep the Cavs bench will be this season. Jones has been a key player, probably the 7th man after Donyell Marshall’s 6th man. Jones turned his ankle last night, it doesn’t sound serious, but he’ll probably miss some games. Jones is the 2 in the 1-2 punch from the bench. Where that punch will come from while he recovers will be interesting to see.

Cavs maintain 20 pt home victory margin

As soon as we were done singing Carmen Ohio at the OSU banquest at Windows on the River last night, we all looked at our watches and wondered if the Cavs were still playing, raced downstairs to the Rock Bottom Brewery, and found the Cavs up by 10 in the 4th quarter. Before we were half way through our first beers, the lead stretched to 22 and the game was over.

It’s getting very difficult to ignore this team.

Washington Post team of the week

Sounds like they miss Larry Hughes…

The past four games, Larry Hughes has averaged 23 points, 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds. Looks like he’s finally beginning to find his rhythm. The Cavaliers are also 5-0 at Quicken Loans Arena this season, winning each game by an average of 20.

I think we might finally have a competitive home game tonight…bad blood between Cavs and Celtics, no?

This is how you coach

The PD’s sports page today looks like they’ve been waiting for this QB controversy to blow up all year…full frontal Frye vs. Dilfer. It’s a bit much, fellas.

And really, what exactly is the controversy? This is how the situation was going to be played from day one of the season, and Romeo Crennel is handling it with total professionalism. Here’s what we knew.

– We knew the Browns would be sub-playoff, might even stink.
– We knew Dilfer wasn’t all that, might even stink.
– We knew Frye had some spark, but he’s a rookie.
– We knew at some point, a change would have to be made.
– We knew the Browns had to have a look at Frye to make a decision on his future.

What’s the big news here? As far as I can tell, the big news is that Crennel has gone with a rotation without any notice. To me, that’s creativity in a situation that usually has no winners. If the rest of this season is spent checking out Charlie Frye in odd situations (surprise starts, surprise rotations, in here, out there), what the hell is wrong with that?

And by the way, Trent Dilfer has no business getting upset about this. If he didn’t stink, the Browns would be in playoff contention. They’re not. And therefore, he’s got precisely zero claim on the starting job. Romeo Crennel should be applauded. This is a good solution to a tough situation.
