Browns number one in wrong poll

The Cleveland Browns finally hit number one in a poll. The misery we have witnessed over the past years is being recognized by the NFL society. The missed opportunities, the bad drafts, moving the team are all examples of why we are number one. It’s almost perfect timing for this poll as we read about upper management confusion and Art Modell looking for our sympathy. I’m not convinced the mild mannered Romeo is going to bring us to the promise land.

The “Art” of covering your own a$$

Art Model continues to fill the Cleveland airways with untruth and deception. The fact that he’s doing this just to make the Football Hall of Fame is selfish in itself. As a Cleveland native and avid Browns fan, I feel we need to use the same energy to keep him out of the Hall as he did to fill his pockets when he moved our team to “that other city”. I wish Art would do us a favor and just take his millions of dollars and SHUT UP.
When Cleveland finally wins a Super Bowl, I want to share it with the true Alumni and he is surely not one of them!!!!!

Tribe still dangling Coco?

The Boston Globe says they are:

Also yesterday, there were ongoing conversations between the Sox and Indians aimed at bringing outfielder Coco Crisp to Boston. The deal, according to a major league source, probably would cost the Sox top prospect Andy Marte and probably would include multiple players changing sides.

I love Coco and think he’s a fantastic #2 hitter, but this would be a tough deal to pass up. Marte is a future stud. In fact, I’ve read that, had Marte stuck around for his entire college career, he would’ve been a senior this year and likely would’ve been the first pick in the draft. The Sox are desperate for a centerfielder now that Johnny Damon’s wearing pinstripes, and while Coco’s a very good player, the Indians have several promising outfielders in the minors who could fill his shoes.

Of course, the question then becomes, what would the Indians do this season if they pulled the trigger? Would Marte get a chance to start at third? If so, what about Aaron Boone? I suppose they could move Boone to first, but you just signed Eduardo Perez to be the righty platoon with Ben Broussard at first. There’s also an ongoing rumor that, should the Indians pull the trigger on this deal, they’d then turn around and trade for young Braves outfielder Ryan Langerhans.

In the short term, a Crisp/Marte deal may hurt the Indians’ chances at competing with the Sox this year, but if Marte earns a starting job right away and turns out to be the real deal, that may not even be the case. Regardless, as much as I like Coco, it’s hard to justify turning down a deal for someone as young and talented as Marte.

Buckeyes come up with a big win

The Buckeyes came up with a huge 77-67 win over the Wisconsin Badgers Wednesday night. This is a big win in a lot of ways. It is the most notable win so far for Ohio State, but it also showed that this team is for real. They are no longer forced to cling to narrow losses to Indiana and Michigan State to prove they belong as they proved they are the Big Ten’s second-best team tonight (still behind MSU at this point IMO) with a strong showing.

Note to Ohio State fans- Thad Matta is a fantastic basketball coach. Yes, this Buckeyes team is underrated, but Matta is a big reason they are a top-20 team. A lot of people close to the program keep telling me that the coaching is the reason they are where they are this year and it’s looking more and more like Matta is one of the great young coaches in the game right now.

It is a great time to be a Buckeye basketball fan.

Like I said…

…LeBron needs to hit his free throws.

0.6 seconds left, down two, he goes to the line for two shots (after a great play off an intentionally missed free throw), sinks the first, clanks the second. Game over.

Alan Henderson had a chance to tip in James’ miss, but that wasn’t his bucket to make. That was LeBron’s. And he failed. Again.

Overreacting? He doesn’t yet have that ice water in his veins. In fact, ESPN pointed out that LeBron is 2-for-15 with less than 10 seconds to go in the game. Hopefully that big shot ability will come, but it ain’t there yet. From the floor or from the line.
