Idiots send hate mail

Hate mail is filling OSU tight end Ryan Hamby’s in box…

Ohio State tight end Ryan Hamby has received a couple of hate letters since dropping a sure touchdown pass during the Buckeyes’ loss to Texas last week….Asked about the content of the letters, Hamby said, “I’m not going to talk about them, but they’re just dumb things. You almost want to say, ‘You know, in the scheme of life there are things going on around the world. It’s just a game.”‘

Hey, loser idiot morons who send hate mail…get a freakin’ life. I’d like to see you catch that pass, or any pass, in any game, any where, in any league, under any circumstance.

Smith starting…for now

Bruce Hooley writes at ESPN.com…

Tressel estimates Smith will get “75 to 80 percent” of the repetitions in practice this week and will play the duration against the Aztecs, unless things get out of hand. That’s a far cry from the eenie-meany-miney-Zwick approach Tressel apparently used to pick his starter for second-ranked Texas, which was only the highest-rated nonconference opponent at Ohio Stadium in half a century.

I’m not who’s truly the better QB, Troy Smith or Justin Zwick, but I really hope Tressel chooses one and sticks with him.

Buckeyes’ offense blew it – plain & simple.

When OSU’s first drive of the game vs. Texas last night featured 2 dropped passes and a punt, my first thought was, “Oh, so it’s gonna be one of THOSE games.” And it was. But that said…

I have never…NEVER – been a fan of playing tag team QBs. Never. It’s stupid. And it proved to be stupid again last night, as OSU’s offense squandered what will likely be the best defensive shut down Vince Young will ever face this entire season. He rushed for 51 yards on the first series. The ENTIRE REST OF THE GAME he managed just 25 yards while being pummeled by OSU linebackers. By the end of the game, Young was barely able to get up off the damn field. If you told me that this would be his condition in the fourth quarter, I’d say OSU wins.

But no. The Buckeyes have to play games with the most important position on the field. Resulting in the last two series being some caricature of rigid adherence to the tag team. Zwick comes in, fumbles on the first play of the second-to-last series. First play of the final series, Smith takes a safety. Neither one developed a rhythm, except one of mediocrity leading to failure.

Just what OSU needs

A quick reminder…Teddy Ginn, Jr. is on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated. Bill Livingston writes Saturday

Before you say: “Yikes! Jinx!” with visions of Cory Snyder and Joe Carter on the cover of the 1987 baseball preview issue, note that neither Maurice Clarett nor Craig Krenzel were waylaid by cover appearances for OSU.

I don’t know, man. Neither of those guys were from Cleveland, and the Cleveland sports jinx is cancerous, spreads far and wide like some bubonic plauge, and Ginn is from Cleveland, and then….and then……ok, I’ll stop hyperventilating.
