Cavs down by 16 – win anyway.

Wow. What a win. 123-120 over the 76ers on the road. The only defense that was played all night was when the Cavs started playing defense about the end of the 3rd quarter, down by 16.

And what more can anyone say about Lebron James. A triple double. 36 points. He took over the game in the 4th quarter, simply imposed his will. And Larry Hughes? Only 37 points. When was the last time two Cavs scored 73 points between them? I don’t think that’s ever happened.

A huge step for the Cavs. To be challenged like this, on the road, by a first place team, shooting as hot as the Sixers were shooting, and then to spot them 16 points, and end up winning….wow.

Not fair. Just not fair at all.

To have Lebron James and Larry Hughes on the court at the same time just. Isn’t. Fair.

After 2 points in the first quarter…TWO…Lebron ends up with 37. Ridiculous. Hughes scores 22 points, all of which accounts for 59 of the Cavs 114 points. Lebron had 10 rebounds, Hughes had 8 assists.

How are teams going to defend this pair? There were times last night when the Wizards simply had to double and triple Hughes. This will continue. Who’s left to cover Lebron? Vice versa? If I’m a defensive coordinator on an NBA team this year, I circle every date the Cavs are on the schedule, and I sub-contract a team of experts to work on this problem like some kind of Manhattan Project, because that’s the only way you’re gonna solve it.

Niece loves Lebron

My 4 year old niece loves Lebron James. She’s not very impressed with 26 points last night, though, and ain’t real happy that Lebron was a decoy on the last play of regulation, which went to Donyell Marshall for the game-tying three. I gotta say, though, Donyell Marshall is the hero. That one shot pays for half the guy’s salary.

These kids watching Lebron James for the next, oh 15 years are gonna be spoiled. They’re gonna think this is how it always was for Cleveland basketball fans. Didn’t we always have the best player in the game? Didn’t we always hit a three at the end of regulation to send a game into OT?

Scary Cavs win scarily

How scary? How about Lebron James plays only 26 minutes, scores only 16 points, and the Cavs win by 19 points over the Grizzlies at home. Wow.

Folks, that was another clinical dismantling of a team, except this was a good team that got dismantled. They sniffed that the Grizzlies were tired, had just lost a tough one in Boston, and they pounced. Larry Hughes is starting to show up as the Hughes we thought we signed. And can enough ever be said about Donyell Marshall? 25 minutes, 12 points, 6 rebounds, off the bench.
