Buckeye recruiting

After the fiasco in the National Championship game, most Buckeye fans were not pleases to hear that the football recruiting class only ranked in the mid-teens while schools like USC and Florida were at the top of the rankings.

That said, it was still a very solid class, and the following article will make you feel better. Bottom line – it’s very hard to predict which recruits will excel, and many of Ohio State’s best players over the past five years wer three-star recruits.

Derek Anderson should get another chance

Terry Pluto makes a persuasive argument that Derek Anderson should start the next game against the Ravens. He clearly has an NFL-caliber arm, and he also has a quick release. If he keeps playing, our terrible receivers might even learn how to catch his crisp passes. His decision-making has also been solid, and he does not get rattled. He seems to get rid of the ball – something that Charlie has trouble doing.

They might have something with this guy, but we will only find out if he gets the chance to play.

While they’re at it, they should bench Dennis Northcutt and activate third-round pick Travis Wilson. Let’s see if he can catch the ball.

Michigan State hires Mark Dantonio

The Browns don’t need to worry any more about losing defensive coordinator Todd Grantham to Michigan State. The Spartans instead decided to hire Mark Dantonio, currently the head coach at the University of Cincinnati. Ohio State fans will remember Dantonio as the defense coordinator of the Buckeyes during the 2002 National Championship season. This is a great choice for Michigan State, and a great opportunity for Dantonio.

As for Grantham, the Browns have to be relived. Despite the pitiful performance yesterday against the Bengals, Grantham has done an excellent job with the Browns defense. The secondary has been ravaged by injuries, but Grantham has successfully overseen the transition to a 3-4 defense. If thing continue to spin out of control in Berea, the firery Grantham would have to be a candidate to take over for Crennel. The Browns have invested too much in the 3-4 defense from a personnel standpoint to make a change in scheme.

Skip Bayless is a complete idiot

This guy can never admit he’s wrong. He picked Michigan to win, but now he’s saying on ESPN’s Cold Pizza that Ohio State won only because Tressel outcoached Lloyd Carr. He claims that Michigan is more talented. Then, in a statement that shows he knows nothing about football, he said that Ohio State did something in the game that he had not seen all year – that they went into 4 and 5 wide receiver sets and played a run-and-shoot type offense. This is an amazing statement. Ohio State has been using this offense and these formations ALL SEASON! This was not a surprise. Michigan just wasn’t good enough on defense to stop it.

Why does ESPN hire clowns like Skip Bayless and Lee Corso? As for Corso, I was thrilled to see him pick Michigan before the game. That practically ensured an Ohio State victory. This moron couldn’t pick a winner if his life depended on it.
