More Turkeys

As I read the article on Braylon Edwards, I couldn’t help but give every reader a chance to enjoy the great list of “turkeys” that SI put together for this year. This list really shows us the mentally or lack of by some professionals and fans of the sports.

Edwards delivers the turkey…himself

The Cleveland Browns are struggling to win games these days. The offense can’t score, the defense struggles, and most of the time, it’s the coaching. The last thing Romeo Crennel needs right now is a selfish player sounding off in the paper. Braylon Edwards decided that he would be the turkey this weekend.

Edwards questioned the play calling in the red zone. This is coming from a player that DOESN’T always make the catch, RARELY makes the block, and is just starting to progress in this league. I’m amazed how it’s never a “team” sport when a team starts to struggle. I believe the Browns are struggling and need to make drastic changes, but through the media is the worst way to communicate.

WAIT. I’m not done. Braylon Edwards decided to question the sportsmanship of a teammate. He believes the Brian Russell doesn’t need to deliver some of the hits during the course of a football game. Is this guy for real? Russell is out there hustling and trying to make plays on a team that is sinking fast and Edwards questions his actions. The opponents compliment Russell for his effort and Edwards questions it.

It’s time for Crennel to shut the mouths of these players or one of the two has to go.

Jones acts like a professional

Damon Jones, the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard, has improved this year both on and off the court. On the court, Jones is starting to hit the 3-pointers and direct the team during critical parts of the game. He’s becoming a leader, besides LeBron James, the Cavs can depend on in clutch situations.

Jones, who recently received two technical fouls in a game, called a press conference before the Washington Wizard contest. He publicly apologized for the unprofessional manner in which he acted in the previous contest.

This action shows me that Jones, who sometimes can come across as arrogant on the court, is a class act and respects the game of basketball. The amount of money being paid to professionals these days, it’s good to see someone step up and show some humility.

Cavs need to win like champions

The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Memphis Grizzlies Tuesday night 97-94 after leading most the of the game by at least 20. As I watched the game, it became very evident the Cavaliers don’t have that “put them away” instinct.

Cleveland will never be a championship team if they can’t put a team away when they’re down. If the Cavaliers would have blown this game, a black cloud would be above them early in the season. Terry Pluto writes and interesting article on the Cavs inability to finish a game.

My opinion is that LeBron James, not just Mike Brown, must lead this charge. The NBA is a game of momentum and James needs to learn to take advantage of it. If Michael Jordon was leading by 20 at home, you could go grab a beer and listen to the “fat lady sing”. The Cavaliers and James are slowing changing the face of Cleveland basketball, now they need to show everyone they have what it takes to be a champion.

This Browns fan is tired and aggravated

I’ve been a Cleveland Brown fan my whole life and I’m tired of NEVER getting the big win. I knew that Pittsburgh was going to come down and score, I knew that we would be in a prevent defense. I knew our offense would get conservative. I knew our defense couldn’t make the interception or big play. The aggravation is getting old.

Terry Pluto has some interesting notes from the game on this subject.
