The Ohio State University and Coach Jim Tressel will have an easy time recruiting next year as the Buckeyes make another strong showing in the 2006 NFL draft. This year they project at least 5 Ohio State players to go in the first round. This is more than both USC and Texas, who played in the Championship game.
Ohio State and Coach Tressel are starting to make this a common theme each year for the NFL. The emphasis put on playing as a team and continuing to work hard is starting to make NFL scouts look to the Buckeyes first when evaluating NFL prospects. Jim Tressel may be conservative in his thought process, but his development of players is very successful.

The baseball season is just beginning and you can already see that the Indians and manager Eric Wedge were determined to avoid a slow start. Cleveland is swinging the bats; they are advancing the runners, and just playing smart baseball.
The injury to C.C. Sabathia is the only bad news coming out of the Indians camp so far. The power has been tremendous for this early in the season and people are starting to take notice.
The pitching will be tested early since the rotation is already going to change. The bullpen will have to pick up where it left off last year, even with all the new faces.
This team is already looking more confident than last year. I still believe we need a legitimate number one starter to make a run at the pennant.
The Cleveland Indians and Brandon Phillips have quietly parted ways. Phillips, who was once thought to be the “jewel” in the trade that also gave the Indians Grady Sizemore and Cliff Lee, never materialized into the player that Cleveland had hoped.
The Tribe patiently waited each year for the Phillips to turn the corner and it never happened.
The Cincinnati Reds offered Cleveland a player to be named later or cash, giving the Indians until the middle of June to decide.
LeBron James is making sure the Cavaliers don’t end this season on the same low note as last year. The impact of James this month has been so strong that most experts went from claiming he isn’t able to close a game to calling his name on the MVP “short list”.
It was only a month ago that Charles Barkley was ignorantly questioning LeBron’s heart and killer instinct. Today, Bill Walton is saying that LeBron James has to be on the potential MVP list considering his recent play.
I believe James will fall short on the MVP ballots because he is so young. The writers believe he has many MVP’s coming his way in the future.
The Cleveland Browns 2006 schedule was released today. The Browns will open against the New Orleans Saints at home. Cleveland has struggled in home openers going 1-5 the last six years.
The first game will be a critical for the Browns considering the second week they will be traveling to their in-state rival Cincinnati Bengals.
The NFL is showing Cleveland some national exposure playing the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz field on a Thursday night. They also scheduled some of the Browns home games to start at 4:00, allowing them to be the nationally televised 2nd game of a doubleheader.
