Buckeyes look forward to next year

It was only a couple years ago; Ohio State’s basketball program was spinning downward and in the news for allegations and possible suspensions. Jim O’Brien had taken the Buckeyes from the final four to an embarrassing low, as the papers were loaded with infractions and bad press for the Bucks program.
Ohio State fired O’Brien and hired the “Jim Tressel of basketball” in Thad Matta. Matta is a hard working, clean cut, emotional leader that has brought this program back to its feet in record time. The last two years, the Buckeyes have been playing solid basketball and exceeding every expectation, including capturing a Big Ten Championship this season. Coach Matta’s incoming class is loaded with talent and ranked as one of the best to ever hit the Ohio State hardwood. As we head into summer, it’s nice to see this talent from other states receiving all their accolades as they head to Columbus next season. There was a time when Ohio State couldn’t touch a recruit out of Indiana; with Matta those times have changed.

OSU plays Big Ten basketball

The Ohio State Buckeyes won a tough battle against a very competitive Davidson team in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Buckeyes are use to the rough style of basketball that is played in the Big Ten.

The referees called a tight game and some Davidson players accused Ohio State of trash talking. This is good news for the Buckeyes. Their next opponent, Georgetown, plays a very similar game and never lacks confident when they take the court. Terrance Dials and the rest of the Bucks will need a physical effort on both ends of the court to reach the Sweet Sixteen this year.

Buckeyes advance

It wasn’t pretty, but the Buckeyes survived a scare and defeated Davidson, 70-62.

The Buckeyes trailed by four at halftime. Asked to rate Matta’s temper on a scale of 1 to 10, Sullinger laughed while pegging it at 13.

“But he told us what needed to be said,” Sullinger added. “We didn’t come all this way to play the way we did in the first half. We were reacting to them instead of them reacting to us. We just weren’t playing Ohio State basketball.”

They’ll need a better effort to beat Georgetown on Sunday.

Ohio State needs to win with no “history”

The Ohio State basketball team is seeded #2 in the NCAA tournament, Big Ten Champions and looking forward to a promising future on the hard court. Thad Matta is a young coach and his early success already has other Big Ten programs turning their heads.

The football team has a National Championship, a couple recent Big Ten titles and a 4-1 record against the team up north. (Michigan) Jim Tressel is a perfect fit for a football program that values winning and tradition. He has brought a sense of pride back to the “Shoe”.

This being said, I think The Ohio State University needs to button up their process with rules and regulations. The University has an alarming amount of recent violations.
The University needs to strive for success that will never be taken away again.

Buckeyes fall to Iowa in Big Ten final, land as #2 seed in NCAA tournament

The Buckeyes led for most of the game, but they couldn’t hold off a late surge by Iowa as they lost their chance to add a Big Ten Tournament title to their regular season title.

Ohio State also lots a chance to get a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament, though a #2 seed is still well beyond the wildest dreams Buckeye fans had at the beginning of this season.

With their reliance on the three-pointer, the Buckeyes need to get hot to do some damage in this tournament. Their vulnerable to being upset, but they’re also very dangerous. Hopefully it will be a fun ride for Buckeye fans.
