What’s with the pec injuries?

Is it just me, or are there WAY more pectoral injuries than ever? Two at the same position?

Cornerback Gary Baxter, the Browns’ biggest off-season acquisition, underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn pectoral muscle and is out for the season. Baxter, who signed a 3-year deal worth $30 million, including a $10.5 million signing bonus, suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s 13-10 loss to the Lions. He was replaced by Leigh Bodden, who could get the start Sunday in Houston.

Bodden, who suffered a torn pectoral muscle midway through last season and was out 6-8 months, said Baxter knew right away it was serious. “He described the same thing I felt when I tore mine,” Bodden said. “It feels like a stinger, like it’s numb. With mine, as the game kept going on, I couldn’t move it. I asked Gary what he felt and he said, ‘I think it’s torn.’ ”

WTF?

Dilfer’s short leash

I’m gonna guess that Trent Dilfer will start the game against Houston Sunday, and after the first pick, he’s gone…based on Charlie Frye’s surprise pre-season start.

“In preseason, we called on [Frye] at the last minute to see what would happen with him,” Crennel said. “If he gets called on at the last minute, I expect him to go in there and perform.” In preseason, Frye responded to a surprise start in Chicago by completing 12 of 14 attempts for 186 yards and putting 10 points on the board. He earned a 118.8 rating. But is he ready to start a regular-season game?

Yeah. He’s ready to start.

Texans perfect for Frye. Dilfer must go.

Can’t think of a better opponent for Charlie Frye’s first start than the Houston Texans. They might stink worse than the Browns. Their defense only got 9 sacks on the year (one more than the Browns), they are 10th in the AFC in passing yards allowed, and better yet, WORST, 16th in the AFC against the run, allowing 159 rushing yards a game.

Cannot think of a better, safer team for Charlie Frye to debut against. Dilfer must go.

Don’t tell me about Bryant. Dilfer must go.

Don’t even bring me this crap.

With 7:21 left, quarterback Trent Dilfer found Bryant wide open at the Lions’ 31 on a third-and-16 – and Bryant dropped the ball. Had he caught it, the Browns would’ve been in field goal range. Instead, they had one more possession after the drop and it blew up on penalties.

If I had four wheels and an engine, I’d be a car. Dilfer must go.
