Terry Pluto on Thome coming back to the Tribe?

Terry Pluto at the ABJ is running rings around the PD’s writers in his latest column. He breaks down rumors that Jim Thome might be back in Cleveland.

For Thome to come to the Tribe, the Indians would have to determine that his elbow is healed and that his back could withstand playing lots of first base. They then would have to convince the Phillies to pay nearly all of the contract. That’s a lot of ifs.

It’d be nice to see, though, wouldn’t it?

Texans perfect for Frye. Dilfer must go.

Can’t think of a better opponent for Charlie Frye’s first start than the Houston Texans. They might stink worse than the Browns. Their defense only got 9 sacks on the year (one more than the Browns), they are 10th in the AFC in passing yards allowed, and better yet, WORST, 16th in the AFC against the run, allowing 159 rushing yards a game.

Cannot think of a better, safer team for Charlie Frye to debut against. Dilfer must go.

Don’t tell me about Bryant. Dilfer must go.

Don’t even bring me this crap.

With 7:21 left, quarterback Trent Dilfer found Bryant wide open at the Lions’ 31 on a third-and-16 – and Bryant dropped the ball. Had he caught it, the Browns would’ve been in field goal range. Instead, they had one more possession after the drop and it blew up on penalties.

If I had four wheels and an engine, I’d be a car. Dilfer must go.

Might be time for Charlie Frye

Bill Livingston debunks whatever case might be left for Trent Dilfer.

In each game lately with Dilfer are long stretches where it’s like driving through Kansas on a day when the twisters aren’t out. A whole lot of nothing. The Browns, for example, got their first first down of the second half over five minutes into the fourth quarter.

Read the whole thing. It’s making me think it’s time for Charlie Frye.
