Bill Simmons on the Cavs

Classic take from the best columnist in sports:

In the last edition of “Big Picture,” I thought the Cavs were one of the seven teams with a realistic chance of winning the title because of LeBron’s Tremendous Upside Potential. Then I watched them play a few more times … it’s just a poorly conceived, poorly coached team, and LeBron isn’t ready to carry them on a night-to-night basis against good teams (especially at crunch-time). So I’m sticking them here. We’ll know they’re ready for primetime when LeBron stops chewing his nails like a little kid during fourth quarter timeouts. And not one second before.

Here’s the question – does Flip Murray change this analysis?

Browns trying to deal Crocker to Falcons

The Browns are probably finished with major free agent signings, but Phil Savage is still busy. With Sean Jones and Brodney Pool on the roster, swapping Chris Crocker for another draft pick makes sense.

Also, according to Tony Grossi in his chat wrap, LeCharles Bentley will definitely start at center, and the Browns are trying to trade center Jeff Faine, hoping for a fourth-rounder.

The Browns already have an extra fifth-round pick from the trade of WR Andre Davis, so they might be in a great position with extra picks, which can be used to trade up if the possibility arrises.

Update – The deal has been completed, contingent on Crocker passing a physical.

Buckeyes advance

It wasn’t pretty, but the Buckeyes survived a scare and defeated Davidson, 70-62.

The Buckeyes trailed by four at halftime. Asked to rate Matta’s temper on a scale of 1 to 10, Sullinger laughed while pegging it at 13.

“But he told us what needed to be said,” Sullinger added. “We didn’t come all this way to play the way we did in the first half. We were reacting to them instead of them reacting to us. We just weren’t playing Ohio State basketball.”

They’ll need a better effort to beat Georgetown on Sunday.
