Tribe needs pitching now

The Cleveland Indians need pitching and the organization needs to spend money to get it. I have said from the day one, the Dolans are managing this team as if they are losing money. A new Forbes study shows the Indians have a higher valuation than any team in their division. This is why my frustration is so high when we refuse to pay for pitchers that would add value to this team.

Mark Shapiro has done a remarkable job of putting together an offense that is complete from top to bottom. This offense is on pace to put record numbers up for Cleveland. It would be a mistake to let this offense go to waist this season with the average bunch of arms we have on the mound. The Tribe needs to make a “big move” and run at the pennant this season or by July we will already be saying wait till next season.

The Buckeyes are getting to know each other

The Ohio State football team is finishing spring football and answering questions on who will start at which position. Coach Jim Tressel will enter next year without a “big name” leader on defense. That’s what happens when talented players that start for three and four years leave at the same time.

The Buckeyes have always relied on a conservative offense, solid special teams and superior defense to win football games. This year the offense is loaded with high power players and the defense is trying to find its leader. The Buckeyes defense has a ton of talented players with no game experience.

Ohio State is predicted to make a run at the Championship game this year. This will only happen if the defensive leaders show their presence early in Texas, then lead this team through a tough Big Ten schedule.

Cavs end season strong, raise playoff expectations

The Cavaliers are entering the playoffs with high expectations. They are fifth in the final power rankings, only trailing the Detroit Pistons from the east. LeBron James is making a strong run for MVP and Larry Hughes is quickly returning to his pre-injury form.
Cleveland is expected to make it through the first round and give the Pistons a run in round two.
If the Cavs fall short, they will have to feel like the season was a failure.
Cleveland is young when it comes to playoff experience and will find out how much pressure there is when you compete in the extra season. This is where LeBron James needs to step up and show the world why he is the next great NBA star. The Cavs opponent should be meaningless considering they have home court advantage. The first game will determine which team advances, so Cleveland better come out strong.

Buckeyes look forward to next year

It was only a couple years ago; Ohio State’s basketball program was spinning downward and in the news for allegations and possible suspensions. Jim O’Brien had taken the Buckeyes from the final four to an embarrassing low, as the papers were loaded with infractions and bad press for the Bucks program.
Ohio State fired O’Brien and hired the “Jim Tressel of basketball” in Thad Matta. Matta is a hard working, clean cut, emotional leader that has brought this program back to its feet in record time. The last two years, the Buckeyes have been playing solid basketball and exceeding every expectation, including capturing a Big Ten Championship this season. Coach Matta’s incoming class is loaded with talent and ranked as one of the best to ever hit the Ohio State hardwood. As we head into summer, it’s nice to see this talent from other states receiving all their accolades as they head to Columbus next season. There was a time when Ohio State couldn’t touch a recruit out of Indiana; with Matta those times have changed.

Buckeye player injured

The Ohio State football spring practices have started and the Buckeyes have their first injury. Tyson Gentry, a 20 year old walk on, was injured during a passing drill.
Gentry is listed as a punter, but had plans to try out for receiver this season. He left the field in an ambulance as he complained of losing feeling in his body.
