Frye is a risk

The Browns traded Trent Dilfer because he was unhappy with the career path Cleveland had for him and he didn’t see eye to eye with Maurice Carthon. I do agree with trading away a disgruntled player, but Trent wasn’t the only one unhappy with the way Carthon handled the offense last year.

I personally felt that many of his decisions were both questionable and sometimes unexplainable. This year we have the luxury of an inexperienced quarterback in Charlie Frye and the same offense coordinator.

Phil Savage has done a wonderful job of improving the team all around, but the all important quarterback position remains a question mark. I do not feel Charlie Frye is experienced enough to lead our high powered offense to the playoffs. The Browns will either need to run the ball very effectively or find themselves more experience at that position.

A different view on Browns draft picks

The Cleveland Browns and their staff have rated this years draft as a success. Phil Savage and Coach Crennel feel they generally addressed every need by the end of Day 2. Savage stated he was surprised at the amount of talent that was still available in the later rounds and the team expects most drafted players to add value right away.

The Browns, like most NFL teams, are always optimistic after the draft, hoping every player blossoms into their full potential. Rich Passan, an avid Browns fan and writer, questions some of the Browns decisions. Passan references some of the past “slam dunks” that never materialized. I personally think the Browns deserve a B in the draft. They selected safe players, but have no immediate starters.

LeBron has faced pressure before

The Cleveland Cavaliers and their fans are watching one of the best players ever to pick up a basketball. LeBron James has been dominating in his first NBA playoffs and anyone that has been following his very short career should not be surprised.

James was quoted as saying that he doesn’t believe in pressure, and so far he has proven this to be true. LeBron is only 21 years old and has already broken most of the Cavs team records. We use to think that Jordon was a once in lifetime player, but if LeBron remains on this pace, don’t rule anything out.

Buckeye talent runs deep

The Ohio State Buckeyes are making a solid showing in today’s NFL draft, so it’s no shock that the current squad is a preseason favorite in a number of polls. The Buckeyes defensive was hit hard this year, but the offensive with the addition of Chris Wells is looking unstoppable.

Jim Tressel and the Bucks will have to open up the offense early in the season, while the defense gains experience. Look for Ohio State to be in the Championship game if they avoid an early let down.

Bucks draw early interest

The Ohio State Buckeyes are contemplating adding seats to “The Shoe” and the spring game shows exactly why that is a good idea. This year a record crowd witnessed the Bucks have a defensive battle and end in a low scoring affair. Troy Smith had solid game, driving for a score in his only possession. Chris Wells, the highly publicized freshman recruit, made a good showing leading the team in rushing.

The Buckeyes continue to be a favorite to make a run at the National Championship, which is another reason there was such a large crowd to witness the scrimmage.
