Damon Jones channelling Magic

Lookin’ forward to seein’ this

From time to time, Jones will make a high kick similar to a member of the Rockettes while dribbling up the court. Jones said he got the move from watching a video of Magic Johnson. “That’s the way Magic would keep the little guys off him,” Jones said. “That’s a big move to prevent the little point guards from trying to steal the ball but if they come in there when I make that kick, they’ll get a knee first. Plus [the high kick] is entertain ment for the fans.”

Nice. This team is gonna be fun to watch, in so many ways.

Read this closely

This might be the most telling sentence I’ve seen yet about this year’s Cavs team.

James scored 26 points, including a momentum generating 3-pointer that tied the score and eventually led to an 88-84 Cavaliers’ victory.

No surprise LBJ scores 26. Not really a surprise that he’s hitting big 3-pointers, in the clutch, in a close game. The final score is the kicker. The Cavs gave up 84 points. This team is already looking like one of the better defensive teams the Cavs have ever fielded.

If we put those three things together consistently, night after night….LBJ scores a lot, LBJ hits 3’s, and the Cavs hold teams under 90 points….this team will win A LOT of games.

“Give us the Cleveland plan”

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.

“I’m ready to go to the NFL and to [commissioner Paul] Tagliabue and say, ‘Give us the Cleveland plan,'” Nagin added, referring to the league awarding Cleveland an expansion team almost immediately after the Browns moved to Baltimore after the 1995 season. “Whatever the Saints want to do, you let them leave, but they can’t take our logo, they can’t take our name, and you give us a promise to give us a franchise when this city’s back.”

How classless are the Saints owners? I thought Art Modell was the epitome of evil, but these guys are reaching a new low.
