Bucks draw early interest

The Ohio State Buckeyes are contemplating adding seats to “The Shoe” and the spring game shows exactly why that is a good idea. This year a record crowd witnessed the Bucks have a defensive battle and end in a low scoring affair. Troy Smith had solid game, driving for a score in his only possession. Chris Wells, the highly publicized freshman recruit, made a good showing leading the team in rushing.

The Buckeyes continue to be a favorite to make a run at the National Championship, which is another reason there was such a large crowd to witness the scrimmage.

The Buckeyes are getting to know each other

The Ohio State football team is finishing spring football and answering questions on who will start at which position. Coach Jim Tressel will enter next year without a “big name” leader on defense. That’s what happens when talented players that start for three and four years leave at the same time.

The Buckeyes have always relied on a conservative offense, solid special teams and superior defense to win football games. This year the offense is loaded with high power players and the defense is trying to find its leader. The Buckeyes defense has a ton of talented players with no game experience.

Ohio State is predicted to make a run at the Championship game this year. This will only happen if the defensive leaders show their presence early in Texas, then lead this team through a tough Big Ten schedule.

Buckeye player injured

The Ohio State football spring practices have started and the Buckeyes have their first injury. Tyson Gentry, a 20 year old walk on, was injured during a passing drill.
Gentry is listed as a punter, but had plans to try out for receiver this season. He left the field in an ambulance as he complained of losing feeling in his body.

Buckeyes change uniforms

The Ohio State University made its first bad decision of the 2006 football season. The Buckeyes announced that they were officially going to change their football jerseys next year. The school is going to remove the gray from the uniform and lengthen the sleeves. This may sound like no big deal, but Ohio State is about tradition and colors. They even have a couple fight songs that echo the scarlet and gray colors.
The announcement of this change was met with outrage and anger from Buckeye nation. The Columbus Dispatch reporting receiving more feedback than any other web site question posted. The superstitious people believe that when something is going well, don’t change it.

Buckeyes highlight “Big Games”

The Ohio State Buckeyes football team and Coach Jim Tressel have provided more “big game” highlights than most college teams over the past few years. The Buckeyes always support a strong schedule and play “that team up North” at the end of each year. The spring practices started last week and everyone is pointing at Ohio State to make a run at the national championship.
The defensive is rebuilding and offense is loaded, which is the total opposite of every year Coach Tressel has been leading the Buckeyes. If Ohio State plans to play for all the marbles, they will have to win two of the toughest games in the country. I know baseball season has just begun, but you can’t help but get excited about the Buckeyes schedule next year.
