The Brady Quinn rumors are heating up again

Posted on Sunday 4 March 2007

From John Clayton at ESPN:

QB Brady Quinn had his workout Sunday at Notre Dame. He was OK. Quinn did a good job on the inside pass. What was interesting was who was there to watch the workout. The Browns, Vikings and Texans attended with big collection of owners, coaches and general managers. The Browns asked Quinn for an individual workout, so maybe they will consider him at No. 3. Quinn would be an ideal fit in Brad Childress’ offense, but there is no certainty the Vikings would take him at No. 7. With Jake Plummer no longer an option for the Texans, Quinn might be a consideration at No. 8. Note that Matt Millen didn’t attend for the Lions. Detroit apparently isn’t interested in drafting a quarterback at No. 2.

LeBron needs work on free throws

Posted on Sunday 4 March 2007

Yes, I’m master of the obvious, but Terry Pluto cited some troubling stats that put this in perpsective:

Now that James seems to have regained his legs and is playing some of his best basketball, it’s time to make free throws. According to Elias Sports Bureau, he’s shooting 59 percent (27-of-46) in the final five minutes of games when the score is within four points. That’s how they define clutch free throws. Overall, he’s at 67 percent, and that’s just too low for a guy who has averaged 75 percent in his first three pro seasons.

LeBron has started to step things up the past several games. He’s finally realizing that he has to drive to the basket and stop settling for jumpers. Hopefully he’ll emerge from the haze that seems to have overtaken his game for the first part of the season.

Now he has to get things right on the line. Stop kissing your damn wrists before every free throw and start concentrating on making the shot.

Hopefully this is all part of LeBron’s maturation process. Let’s hope he gets everything worked out by playoff time.

Browns get good start with free agents

Posted on Sunday 4 March 2007

By adding G Eric Steinbach and LB Antwan Peek, the Browns are off to a good start in free agency. They also go good news from Ryan Tucker, sho said he’s ready to reclaim his starting right tackle job next season.

They still need to fill the right guard spot and the need help on the defensive line, so expect more signings.
