Bus Shaw sums it up pretty well - Kobe is ahead of LeBron in certain categories (like his ability to close out a game), but LeBron is poised to surpass everything Kobe has accomplished. I’m chalking up the game against the Lakers as another step in LeBron’s learning process. As good as he is now, LeBron will continue to get better.

Kobe was the best player in the league this year, but really showed his immaturity in game 7 against Phoenix when he tried to make a point to his team. That was stupid. Lebron did everything he could (wihin reason) to play well in the playoffs. He has the most potential of anyone in the league. He is only 21 and he is learning in every game how to make his team better which Kobe hasn’t figured out yet. So are we taking about the best player, or are we talking about winning championships? I know as a fan - I’ll take the championships and Kobe can be the best player. Since he will never win without Shaq!

Even though lebron gets oscar robertson like numbers, and gets more assists & rebounds then kobe, it doesn’t make him the better player. We can say he is the more active player out of the 2 and his position at small forward allows him to get more rebounds and assists. Because he is a forward he is by the post a lot and is able 2 kick it out 2 an open teammate for an assist. Lebron has more options, while kobe is a shooting guard and his first mindset is to score, then rebounding and assists will follow. Its true though that lebron has better teammates 2 work with then kobe has. Have u seen the lakers play? Sometimes when kobe does choose to pass the ball, his teammates can’t shoot or score for shit, so he does have to score more, thus a lower assist number than lebron. lebron is taller, stronger, a better passer, is more productive in driving in, and is faster on the break. Lebron has more hops than kobe, but kobe performs more complex dunks. lets see lebron make a 360, he could if he wanted to. They are about equal at 3-point range through out their careers. In the other hand, kobe is quicker, a better ball handler, and a better jump shooter. The only reason why lebron is more consistent and shoots a higher field goal percentage than kobe is because majority of his shots made are in the paint. He takes and makes a lot of lay ups. Lets see him stick by the perimeter and take as much jump shots as kobe does in a game, he would definitely shoot a lower percentage. The same goes for wade, his strength is driving in. when the paint is guarded good, kobe has the luxury of stepping out and make jump shots, and when the perimeter is guarded good he can drive it in to. If kobe would drive in more, he would shoot at a high percentage like lebron and wade. Lebron and wade can do it 2, but not as good as kobe. That’s a fact. I dare them to try to out shoot kobe on the perimeter, it will never happen, they have to bring it in. why even compare them, they play two different positions. Lebron has better statistics, but kobe is more talented, hearing this, it seems that they are equal and on the same level. But what separates the great players from the good players is what they can do down the stretch, at crunch time in the 4th quarter. I would rather have kobe taking the last shot than lebron any day, he is just more clutch. “greatness can occur in just one play.” If lebron starts hitting buzzer beaters than I can say that he is at kobe’s level, clutch free throws especially lol. he isn’t there yet, but he is on his way up, give him a year or 2, he will be crazy if he can do what kobe does in the final seconds.
James is better than Kobe. Dont argue that James’ suporting cast are far superior to Kobes so thats why Kobe has to do all the scoring. If you look at Kobes shooting percent it is actually lower than his team average on a whole. So that kind of throws out the notion that Kobe is the only guy on the team. L Odem is as good as anyplayer on Clevland other than James. Kobe has an edge on James right now as a defensive player. The TMac thing about his 13 points in 34 seonds being more impresive than Kobes 81 is just plane stupid. Only Wilt Chamberlain scored more points in a game than Kobe and thats saying alot. Wilt has the most rediculus statsever. Id be happy to have either james or kobe on my team but would prefer james. Better team player with loads more upside. What???? Are u high? Talent wise, their in the same league, but Lebron, at 21, is light years ahead of Kobe, at 21. Kobe had Shaq and Phil Jackson, Lebron has had Paul Silas, Brendan Malone, Mike Brown,and Z. I mean what? Kobe came into a good situation, and has benefitted tremendously. Same with Dwyane Wade. #2 Please I’m sick of everyone saying how Lebron’s former #4 seed team almost beat the former #1 seed Pistons. If you’re gonna applaud that accomplisment than how about Kobe’s #7 seed Lakers being 13 seconds from defeating the #2 seeded Suns. In my opinion that’s is a better accomplishment. Ya off course it was in the 2nd round but I don’t need to explain that the Lakers who’s starting lineup previously were all bench players except for 2, where matched up with the #2 seed in the West. Not a team like the Wizards who are a mediocre team even with Gilbert. The fact is that the Wizards got lucky LeBron came up big time with 2 game winners or so. The series should have went to game 7 and then we would have seen what he could really do. Not taking away that the Cavs were a slightly better team. But the margin between the Phoeinix Suns and the Wizards is huge. Props to Lebron for his hard work vs the Pistons but the series ended in a 20-point blowout in Game 7 similar to the Lakers. But Kobe didn’t play in the last qtr.
#3 Just because Kobe scored 1 point in the last 12 minutes of the season in what would be a 30-point blowout dosen’t mean he should be taken blame for the loss of that game. He tried to score the game before (50,) sure they almost won, (and advanced.) But this was in Phoenix, and when he tried that strategy they were still down by 15. Phil Jackson the greatest coach ever abviously approved sticking to the game plan. It worked for the games they won so he tried it. He passed and executed but the shots were not going in. His players can’t help that they aren’t that experienced but Kobe believed in them but unfortunatly they didn’t believe in themselves.

This comparison is a bit premature. If we are comparing the two at the age of 21 or 22 then, yes, of course LBJ is better, no ones going to argue that. Also, if we are picking a player to start a Franchise with than I would go with LBJ because of the age and the upside. However, if we are comparing the two right now, today, KB8 is the better player without question. Even LBJ himself thinks KB8 is the best player today. Yes, Lebron is better at passing and finding people, but it doesn’t mean KB8 can’t pass and find the open man. He just doesn’t do it as often because of his role in the triangle offense which they run. If you notice MJ ran the same offensive as KB8 and MJ was known for scoring, not his passing. Some even referred to the GOAT MJ as selfish, so it isn’t much different than what KB8 is doing. Outside of passing, the only other thing I can see LBJ being better at is his driving to the basket. LBJ is a good off the ball defender, reading passing lanes, and getting steals, but he lacks on ball defense. KB8 is great at both which is why he is on the 1st team All defensive team and LBJ isn’t. Obviously, KB8 is a better pure scorer so I not going to waste my time with this one. Rebounding to me is pretty much equal. Yes LBJ has more statistically but he should as he plays the 3 SF which is closer to the basket, while KB8 plays the 2 SG and defends the perimeter which gives KB8 less rebounding opportunities. So to sum this up is simple, KB8 is a bigger competitor, better scorer, better closer, better defender, and proven champion. Will LBJ equal or surpass KB8, of course there is a great chance just like KB8 has a chance to surpass MJ as the GOAT, but if the argument is for right now KB8 is better than LBJ, just like MJ is better than KB8 .

If Kobe played for Cleveland, we wouldn’t have even made it to the second round. Not trying to take anything from Kobe, but he benefited from having SHAQ, and Phil Jackson, come on now. Can’t yall see that. If Lebron played with SHAQ, he’d have a ring for every year he’s played. They’d be the new Jordan and Pippen, because Lebron won’t complain about not being the focus of the offense, as long as their winning. Look at Dwyane Wade, as long as he has Shaq for a teammate, the road in the eastern conference has to travel through Miami. Basketball is a team sport, the sooner Kobe realizes that, the sooner he’ll be back on top. Lebron, and Dwyane do, that’s why Miami and Cleveland are two of the top teams in the Eastern conference.

I find it funny when you say Kobe doesn’t realize it’s a team sport and Bron and Wade do. So how did the Lakers win titles if Kobe didn’t understand it was a team game. When the Lakers won there titles, Kobe’s game as an individual was held back alot because of Shaq, Phil, and the team concept. If he didn’t hold back or understand team concept, then his game would have flurished like it does today but they may not have any rings to show for it. Nobody, is good enough to win a title without the understanding of team concept.
