Hmmm. Interesting. Steve McNair was tutored under very Dilfer-esque Chris Chandler.
“I said at the time that it would take him two years to learn the league, two years to play, and in his fifth year, we’d be in the Super Bowl,” Titans General Manager Floyd Reese said in an interview on Tuesday. Sometimes a plan works out. The Titans made it to the Super Bowl in McNair’s fifth season. McNair made two starts at the end of his rookie season. He made four in his second year. In his third season, McNair started every game at the age of 24.
That’s the best argument I’ve heard for sucking it up and sticking with Dilfer.

One key difference is that McNair was a high draft pick and there was no doubt that they were going to stick with him.
Frye,on the other hand, has looked good but the Browns really need to figure out if he’s their QB of the future. If they have a shot at Matt Leinert, they need to know whether they can pass on him.
At some point, this season will be officially “lost” and it will be critical to evaluate Frye’s potential by seeing him in game situations.
Finally, Romeo said that the opponent will not factor into his decision. That’s bullshit. If he let’s Frye start his first game on the road against Pittspuke, then he’s crazy.
