Consensus seems to be building that the Browns will take Peterson with the #3 pick. Scouts, Inc. at ESPN.com (subscription required) just released its latest mock draft and they also slotted Peterson to the Browns, though they acknowledge he has some durability issues. They have Brady Quinn droping to the Texans at #8. I hope the Browns aren’t thinking of taking him.
Tony Grossi appeared on Les Levine’s show and insisted the Browns would not be taking Quinn, and that he also expected the to take Peterson at this point.
I think the pick would make sense. A stud running back can help the offense right away.

Why does every online publication I read presume the Browns will get the #3 pick? Whatever the number, I hope Savage finds someone who is drooling over Peterson or Quinn and wants to move up. We need two #1’s this year and need to hit like we did in last year’s draft. The only first day player that has panned out from 2005 was Brodney Poole. Edwards was clearly not worthy of the 3rd pick in the draft.
These are the studs we passed on to land Edwards: Shawn Merriman & DeMarcus Ware. These guys are pretty good that we passed up in ‘05: Cedric Benson, Cadillac Williams, and Pacman Jones. Let’s hope Savage has learned from his mistakes.
this is my first reply but i’ve been a steady reader of these posts and replies for a while now. it’s good to see some new posts.
as for the beloved browns, i only say beloved cause it’s the off season i am not sold on peterson and never have been since his freshman season at ou-too many serious early injuries, i know it’s a dead horse but can we really do that much wrong by trying to get one of the stud o lineman this year( joe thomas, levi brown) and just see what happens? should be an interesting draft regardless.
i really, really hope they trade the 3rd pick for additional picks….
how can anyone think Peterson can make it in the nfl. He couldn’t get through a single college season healthy. haven’t we had enough problems with injury prone players on this team since its return.
YOU HAVE TO TAKE A PLAYERS HEALTH HISTORY INTO ACCOUNT WHEN DRAFTING.
only a fool would not.
“Will Adrian Peterson be the pick?” ..
I sure the hell hope so. God we need a good back. And this guy is primo. Finally a blue chip back in Cleveland .. about F*** TIME!!..
thanks Savage in advance for getting this guy..
then go get a line. -thanks.
Rob.
peterson has no hope behind our o-line.
tomlinsin would have no hope behind our line.
how can anyone call this guy a “blue chip” back?
still waiting for someone to tell me what evidence they have that this guy won’t be injured any less than, say, courtney brown…..
I like the idea of getting Peterson, but a trade is also a possibility, especially after the combine.
Peterson, Joe Thomas and Calvin Johnson all had great combines. This puts the Browns in a good position at #3, as many teams might want to trade up.
