The Browns actually found themselves tied at 17 in the third quarter but once again found ways to lose in their 27-17 loss to the Ravens. Kyle Boller, subbing for the injured Steve McNair, and the Ravens’ running game dissected the Browns defense, who continues to look worse and worse as the season starts to come to an end. Cleveland’s failure to consistently run the ball effectively against the stout Baltimore defense allowed the Ravens to go after Derek Anderson. Anderson looked decent under the circumstances but made some questionable throws.
Clock management and communication on offense plagued the Browns again in the second half. They wasted their timeouts trying to get plays off and also on a stupid decision on Romeo’s part to challenge on obvious Ravens’ completion near the end of the fourth quarter. 0-8 in the division, pitiful. While I normally would like to give a new head coach three full seasons to turn a franchise around, I’m not so sure Romeo deserves a third season. Sure, injuries have played a large role in the Browns’ disappointing season but the team is heading towards a possible 4-12 season and is not showing many signs of improvement.

this begs the question…..who cares anymore?
They must fire Romeo… More talent on this team than ever in 8 years and they are as bad ever, if not worse….
Romeo did not have one nice thing to say about Anderson after the game. Just that he made bad reads was overwhelmed, etc… Bring me any other coach
I think they should blow the whole team up, and start all over again from scratch. That’s what they’re going to have to do anyway. The O line and D line are jokes, a quarterback controversy between two mediocre players at best, no running game, oft injured defensive backs, underachieving linebackers. You guys are right, Michael, I was wrong. Troy Smith shouldn’t be drafted by the Browns. I don’t want to see him play on this sorry ass team. The way they’re playing, I bet Mt. Union could take it to em. My question is who’s going to continue to spend money to watch this shit?
The best part of listening to them on the radio is the “Real Men of Genius” comercials. At least we have the BCS National Championship game to look forward to.
Go Bucks, Cleveland Browns suck!!!!!
It’s ridicuous to watch Romeo stand there on the sidelines and say nothing, do nothing, and basically act like he’s watching a golf match! He has no enthusiasm. And I agree with you, MIchael, he said nothing good about Anderson when he actually had a decent game. Romeo has no clue how to identify what’s wrong, what to fix, how to fix it…..! Also, regarding all the miscommunications on offense, it seems like very time there was confusion it was because Braylon Edwards was confused. And 12 men on the field … are you freaking kidding me!!!
So, do we want to win the next two games and go out with some pride, or do we want to lose in order to get a better draft pick - what a great choice!
Well only 2 more to go, thank god!! I am so sick of our seasons being over in the middle of October!! Anderson has played well against 2 tough defenses! I bet cha Romeo is downplaying his performance so he does not have the media talking about a QB controversey because this team is already a mess!!! Just lose the next 2 so we can get joe Thomas!!!
I am of the feeling like anything else in life if there is a better commodity available then go for it. If Gruden, Cowher, or a Tressel is available then make the coaching change. The problem with the Browns have been that they fire first then look around. While Romeo may not be the long term answer if there is nothing else available then why get a coach who will put us farther beind. Can I say Butch Davis. I am encouraged by improved play of Braylon, Joe J., Winslow, and Anderson, but the wheels that make an offense successful are O-line and running backs. This is something we are very below average on and that makes the Browns weak. Defense - Secondary needs to get healthy - I think we have a strong secondary, especially if we can get a Corner via free agency. Linebackers are very promising, but again the D-line which basically is the engine of the defense is awful. We get no middle penetration, which makes the sack totals low, and gives QB’s all day to throw. By having time to throw it forses the defense to drop back and in turn opens up the holes for opponents to run all day. Wimbley has a bright future. The Browns have had an above average drafts the last couple of years, except there have been more holes than draft picks so us as Browns fans are suffering. I hate to say it but everybody complains by saying that were are always saying “Wait til next year”, the fact is we need to say Wait til 2 to 3 years from now. Face reality unless we draft better we are going to be awful.
If Cowher is a possibility to coach this team, he will be unavailable for a year. So we have to suffer another year of this crap? 1-11 in 2 years? No Browns team has ever gone winless in the division, 50+ years, and there is even a chance Crennel is coming back? This organization makes no sense, I almost wish this team woulnd’t of come back, it is so frustrating watching the Ravens win, the Bengals, etc etc. I give up. Go Buckeyes!!!
That is amazing that not even the 1999 or 2000 Browns team went winless in the division, but this group of clowns, with far more talent, can win a frickin’ game within its own division.
Here’s what we know: the offensive line sucks and will probably be without LeCharles next year, if he ever plays again. Free agents on the line include Cosey Coleman, Andruzzi, and Fraley. Who knows what will happen with Ryan Tucker. Why on earth would we want any of these stiffs back? So we’re starting from square 1 on the line again.
We also know that Northcutt is gone. We know that Frye and Anderson are not the QBs of the future of this franchise.
All that said, why wouldn’t we fire Crennel when we’re already starting over on offense for the 4th time in 9 years? Get a coach in here who can do something with what we have. Crennel is a good Xs and Os guy on defense - if he wants to stay as defensive coordinator, hire him. Otherwise, send him packing.
I will stop following the Browns altogether if they waste their pick on Brady Quinn. And Troy Smith will not have any success if the line remains a low priority and without a viable running game. The only way I would draft Troy is if the Browns were able to make a trade to get a 2nd #1 pick next year. Then they could take Troy and a top tier lineman.
I really hope we can win the last two games and establish some sort of respect for next year. The problem is most of our team is beat up! I’d love to see Anderson get the start. We know what Frye can do, now let’s give DA a few games. One bright spot - Winslow and Jurevicius had great games.
What’s up with 0 for whatever on 3rd down conversions? On about 3 or 4 occasions, 3rd and short and we throw the long ball!! Are you kidding me!?!
Every year in the NFL teams turn around and win unexpectedly. Except here of course. This league is designed for all teams to be good every so often. How a team can be this bad all the time defies logic. At least we have quality company with the likes of Detroit and Arizona. I have no answers as we have blamed owners, management, coaches, and players. We have changed them all and we still lose. I’m out of answers and almost out of patience.
