The Ohio State Buckeyes Coach Jim Tressel is showing class by not voting in the final Coaches Poll this year. Tressel and AD Gene Smith decided that it would only be fair to the parties involved not to participate.
I have always been amazed by the great “game day” decisions by Tressel, but his class in recruiting and handling public situations is what really makes you respect him.
I noticed in one article that Tressel asked if he could split the number 2 spot between Michigan and Florida, and the poll wouldn’t let him, they were trying to trap him in my opinion. I don’t know what it is about USA Today, but they just don’t like Tressel, so when he wouldn’t take the bait of being forced to pick one team over another, he refused his ballot. Classy move on his behalf. It really shows the lack of class in USA Today.
On a side note, how could someone in the Harris poll vote Florida #1. OSU had 112 1st place votes, Florida had the other 1. Really shows the stupidity some voters have. I’m sure they were just trying to get Florida that little extra boost to pass up Michigan, but that was a ridiculous vote.

“(Harris Poll voter Jim Walden was apparently so smitten by Meyer’s pitch that he became the only voter on the planet to put Florida No. 1, ahead of Ohio State. Walden also voted Oklahoma fourth, Boise State fifth, Wake Forest seventh and LSU 11th. Makes me wonder whether we were watching the same sport all fall.)”
Just another example of how f’d up College Football is. Florida 1 and LSU 11th! Give me a freaking break. This is a disgrace.
Tressel is pure class,
and I loved his comment on how he didn’t want to get either team mad being that he would have to face them in a month. Is Jim Walden taking taking classes from Skip Clueless?
Are they serious? This country hates Ohio State. Jim Rome does, Skip Clueless, Lee Corso, the list goes on and on. People are still talking about the penalty back in 2002, when OSU beat Miami. Last week, OSU had 1.00 BCS rating, why don’t they now? Who is this idiot that voted Florida #1? It all adds up like this. Ohio State is the best team in the country, Tressel should’ve voted for Boise State, the other undefeated team in the country. But no, he exercises some class, and not vote at all. I hope OSU blows Florida of the field, and everyone has to kiss our Scarlet and Gray asses. Go Bucks!!!!!
