Cleveland Browns starting receiver Braylon Edwards attempted to “back off” on his statement about teammate Brian Russell’s hit on Chad Johnson when addressing the media. He said Russell was a teammate and they have to go to battle together. In my opinion, Edwards needs to shut his mouth and produce on the field.
Braylon stated that receivers are “hung out there” a lot in this league. This may be a sign of HIS toughness or lack of. The skilled positions in the NFL are paid very well to perform on the field and take hard shots during a game. If Edwards isn’t prepared to do this, he should practice punting during the off-season.
The Browns and Coach Romeo Crennell have a ton of work to do before they’re successful in this league. The last thing Romeo needs to worry about is the mouth of an unproven superstar.

This guy probably played receiver most of his life. Why is he now complaining about being hit. Is this guy a bitch or what? This dude should’ve thought about that before he got that big ass contract and signing bonus last year. He should’ve been a basketball player. I thought this guy was going to be the next great Browns receiver, but he’s turning out to be a joke. You never get involved in a teammate’s contract dispute, and you never throw your teammate under the bus. He’s doesn’t have a clue. In this town, it’s all about the Brown and Orange. Yes we have Lebron and we are all witnesses, but this city will always be a football town, and if you play for the Browns, that’s where your heart better be. Not Michigan, or the wide receiver corps. This guy better get a clue, or he will get no love from the Cleveland fans.
these michigan players learn to bitch from the best - lloyd carr, this man spends more time bitching at referees than any coach i’ve ever seen….
Fans can accept a player’s “trash talk” if they can back it up. Dropping ball after ball, game after game is not the way. He may turn out to be one of the best, but I think he needs to go. We don’t need his b.s.!!!!!!
I had written in my blog (name’s the link) about this situation, and the big point is that Edwards could learn 2 things from Winslow:
1. How to catch a ball when it’s thrown to you
2. Not to air dirty laundry to the press (KW found out from experience.)
Edwards really needs to start playing and just shut his trap.
