Well it’s finally here. They both did what everyone was hoping they’d do by running the table.
Go undefeated to set up arguably the greatest game in the history of the greatest rivalry in college football. Ohio State (11-0), ranked #1 in all the polls, versus 11-0 Michigan, ranked #2 in all the polls. Playing for an outright Big Ten championship and for the right to play in Glendale, Arizona on January 8th, 2007 for the BCS National Championship! And it’s at “The Shoe” in Columbus, Ohio………..WOW!
I don’t know about you but it doesn’t get much better than this. Well unless of course it’s a close game and one team wins by one point on a last second field goal and the Buckeyes and Wolverines end up #1 & #2 in the BCS Standings and they’d play again on January 8th!
That would be NIRVANA! Beating Michigan twice in the same year, once for the Big Ten title and then again for the national title. But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves here. Lets just enjoy this week. It’s OHIO STATE/MICHIGAN Week!

Jim Tressel is 4-1 versus the Wolverines. Play Hang On Sloopy over and over in the car, at home, at the office or wherever. Tell the story of why Woody Hayes went for 2 points near the end of an Ohio State blowout of Michigan, because as Woody would say, “I couldn’t go for 3″! Remember that Troy Smith has accounted for over 700 yards of total offense with 5 touchdowns and no turnovers in 2 games against that team from up north. Oh yeah, he’s also 2-0 against Michigan. Remind me that Lloyd Carr is still the coach at Michigan.
Dot every “i” you write this week in scarlet ink. Get your “Muck Fichigan” and ” Ann Arbor is a Whore” T-shirts out and wear them proudly this week. Go grab your cd of “TBDBITL” and crank it in your car stereo and roll down the windows so everyone can hear it and wave at you. Just walk around wherever you are and yell out “OH” and wait for the “IO” in return.
Enjoy it, cherish it, be a part of it, in anyway you can, because it may never happen again.
It’s “F-ING” Ohio State/Michigan Week for all the marbles baby.

What can you say? As if this game needed to be any bigger - this could go down as one of the biggest “Games before the Game” in history; USA v. Russia in ‘80, Red Sox v. Yankees in ‘04, OSU v. Michigan in ‘06?
Michigan stacks up with us better than anyone else we’ve faced this year. What makes me nervous is that this game is always won by the Offensive and Defensive lines - and right now, I have to give that advantage to Michigan. We have the better QB (although much like in 2003 wih Navarre, Henne’s legacy is on the line in this game), they have a slight edge at RB, I like our Wide Receivers and Secondary, and the Linebackers are a wash. So like everyone expects, it is certain to be a great one.
Pittman, Pitcock, and Pettrey need to have big games. But here’s the X-Factor: Troy Smith will go down in History as the greatest QB in Ohio State history if he wins these next 2 games. He always plays his best against Michigan and this will be no exception.

I am so psyched for this game and have been for many weeks. We have probably 10 to 15 loyal OSU fans meeting for this one. Kenny remeber another x factor is Lloyd Carr and his idiotic play calling, he WILL find a way to lose. Michigan’s deffense scares me, but I just can’t see them being able to deffend the five wide set. Tressel needs to put the pressure on Henne, Larianitis needs to take some heads off, and our place kicking needs to get some practice in and stop missing extra points and possibly fielfd goals. I’ll send more jokes as they come to me. OSU 27 - UM 15 (no TD’s). GO BUCKS.

This game could possibly be the best NCAA football match-up this season. Think of it this way; WR- Minningham(M) vs. Ginn (OSU), the nations most dangerous players when it comes to catching a football. Then you got Troy Smith and Chad Henne. Mike Hart will have a say somewhere, sometime. For the Wolverines this game means everything, and if your Ohio State this game means everything when trying to preserve the National Title.

Jim and Lloyd are walking down the beach talking about the new rivalry starting with Jim taking over as coach. As they’re walking, Lloyd trips over something and almost breaks his leg. Upon closer inspection it turns out to be a genie’s lamp.
“Who disturbs me?” asked the genie. Jim and Lloyd, both say that they did it. “You will each get one wish.” said the genie. Lloyd offers to go first.
“I want an impenetrable wall built around the entire state of Michigan so that none of those stupid miscreants from Ohio will ever get a chance to get in. I want it as far down into the ground as it is high, and I want it to be completely sealed in so that we can finally have our peace.”
The genie grants the wish to him, and he is instantly whisked away to his new paradise.

No one has mentioned it, but I think the key to this game is the weather. OSU is faster / quicker versus Michigan is stronger / tougher. If the field condition are wet, that will definitley slow OSU down and give Michigan a chance to grind it out. Let’s hope for dry weather!

How do you get to Michigan from Columbus? Drive north til you smell it and west til you step in it.
I disagree that Michigan has the advantage on both sides of the line. If Ohio State can stop Michigan’ s running game, then OSU will win easily. Michigan’s QB does not have the ability to make enough plays to carry his team. I think Laurenitis will be a monster again and the game will be close.
I predict 24-21 Ohio State and that the two teams will not rematch in the BCS title game. I think it will be OSU vs. USC.

for all those oundits who say there should not be a rematch of this game no matter what…. all i have to say is if this game goes into triple overtime and ends on a controversial play… people will be sreaming for it…..
and by the way… if this really is the biggest rivalry in the country… who wouldn’t want to see round 2 if it is a tight game ?
