The Ohio State Buckeyes and head basketball coach Thad Matta have officially agreed to a long term contract. Matta and the Buckeyes are expected to be very successful this year. This freshman class is one of the best in the country.
Coach Matta has a passion to win and continues to convince top recruits that the Ohio State basketball program is on the rise. The incoming class for next year is ranked in the top 5, with a couple top players still not committed. This extension is something AD Gene Smith felt was critical for the stability and growth of this program.

Wouldn’t it be something if Thad Matta could have the basketball program on the same level Tressell has the football program? I think he can. This team is potentially as good, if not better than the guys coached by Randy Ayres, and the guys that were dq’d from the sweet 16. I’m really excited. This time when the brackets come out, and when I choose the Buckeyes to win it all, they actually can.
