That’s what this story on Fox Sports makes it sound like.
It may sound funny, even ludicrous, but if Savage is finally fired in Cleveland after less than one year on the job, it’s because Lerner didn’t like him. Simple as that.
Whatever’s going on, this situation, where you’ve got the entire sports media universe saying he’s fired, and the Browns saying he’s not, is untenable.

This is just absurd. These concerns would strike me as valid IFFFFFFFF he had been here, say, 3 yrs. To judge him now seems absurd.

Ignore that last line
how in the world has this team or organization got so freakin screwed up! it almost makes one long for dare i say it, art moe-del. almost, at least when we had a gm in the 80s ernie accorsi, he let him do the job. this team has become a freakin embarassment.
I agree that this organization is a complete mess! Why did they hire Savage if they won’t let him do the job? What a sad state of affairs. This John Collins does nothing but talk in circles. Isn’t Collins a marketing guy? What the hell has he ever done?
We need more football people like Savage who worked his way through the ranks and knows how to evaluate talent.
Randy Lerner has a chance to prove he is a truly impotent, incompetent, owner. John Collins is obviously a non-football corporate weasel whose main qualification is a profound ability to smooch Randy Lerner’s butt. He has probably spent most of the last 4 months in his office composing “memos to the file” documenting the faults of Phil Savage.
Meanwhile Savage has made the mistake of being out of the office doing his job, evaluating talent, which is obviously a foreigh concept to the Browns since 1999.
If Lerner doesn’t fire Collins and whoever else participated in the “Savage Firing” fiasco he’s a colossal turd.
