Maurice Clarett schedules another workout
After humiliating himself at the NFL combine with times in the 40 that barely beat the times of offensive linemen, Maurice Clarett has scheduled another workout, this one at his old high school. He wanted to work out at Ohio State during their pro day, but the Buckeyes told him he wasn’t invited. They did the right thing.

Yes, OSU may have done the right thing but Clarrett can still run the ball. He needs to put the OSU Scandal behind him and look ahead. Maurice may have acted like a fool at times but OSU does’nt exactly have clean hands here!!! They sure loved him when he played a major role in the National Championship.
Good point. The Buckeyes would not have won without him, but I’m sick of hearing about him, and hopefully the Browns won’t take him.
The entire college system is nothing but a modern system of slave labour, enriching universities who are supposed to be in the business of education and I think it is a scandal that Clarett was denied the chance last year to go pro. Even if a 17 year old is ready for pro football there should be no law to prevent him from earning a living.
In baseball, high school kids have been getting signing bonuses and playing baseball for nearly 100 years, but give a black kid and chance to get rich at 18 and America has to have a national discussion about the merits of letting a kid “go pro” at an immature age.
That said, Clarett is a crybaby and while he has gotten seriously screwed by this immoral system, I have little sympathy for him.
He will not be drafted and I bet he will never play in the NFL
Clarrett will not be drafted!!! Come on. Have you seen some of the backs in the NFL today? That nobody from the Ravens was just offered $3 million by the Browns and matched by the Ravens. Maurice needs to re-adjust and get back into football shape and once that is complete he can be a solid back in the NFL. Sometimes you have to put emotions aside and that is hard in the Buckeye/Browns state when it comes to Maurice. Let’s see what happens.
We’re not the only ones saying that he won’t get drafted. So-called experts have suggested that he may be a rookie free agent, and even his own agent said he may have fallen out of the draft with his pitiful workouts:
“He could have slipped completely out of the draft. He needs a good workout.”
That’s a quote from Clarett’s agent, Steve Feldman, from the story referenced in G’s original post. Most of the time, agents can’t talk their guys up enough, but this guy’s saying his client may not even be a draftable prospect. That’s pretty telling.
I’m not saying it’s definitely going to happen, but Clarett going undrafted is a realistic possibility, considering the baggage he brings and his poor workouts.
My guess is that the Raiders will draft him. Al Davis loves picking up players who have been labeled as problems.
yeah, Clarret clocked a 4.65 at his workout. He is back in the mix and even though he is not lightning fast he will get drafted later this month. I hope the Steelers don’t steal this one. His 40 is probably better than that of Bettis.
It’s still not an impressive 40, but it should help him get drafted. As much as I’m sick of him, I’d hate to see the Steelers pick him up. He would probably do well in their system.
